Term 3 Updates!!

Hey Hey guys,
This has been a long time coming and so a long post follows but do try to keep track of what's going on. I'll number them as we go...
1. Congratulations to the cast, crew, video people, survey people of "The lift" and the racial harmony programme! Good job guys. A proper debrief will be held this friday during training.
2. A Humongous THANK YOU to all who worked on the board. It looks really 'spiffy'. Once I get the time to print out the photos we took ages and eons ago, they're going right up!!
3. An upcoming 'fun' club activity that is coming up in August is the club excursion to go see 'Hairspray'; a famous broadway musical that has been made into a movie! To find out more, check this out!
http://www.hairspraymovie.com/It opens on Thurs 23 Aug. So the option is whether you want to watch it on Thurs or Fri. The difference is about $1 thereabouts. You guys decide - vote on the tagboard!
4. This Friday, everyone please wear your collared ELDDS T-shirt as we have a formal photo-taking for the school website.
5. The training schedule for the next few weeks is as follows
3 Aug - Photo-taking, de-brief, rehearsal for Teacher's Day
16 Aug - rehearsal for Teacher's Day
23 Aug - rehearsal for Teacher's Day / 'Hairspray' outing
30 Aug - Teacher's day performance
After which ELDDS will rest for the exams.
We will pick up with the new trainer in Oct.
6. Camp and graduation [BBQ?] for all ELDDS will be in NOV.
7. Sec 4 Graduation show will be in early Dec.
8. Camp for the 3 - school collaboration with Tampines Sec and Orchid Park Sec is scheduled for early Dec. Auditions will be held in Oct. Performance for this show will be in March.
9. Possible arts excursion aka Arts Amazing Race to be hosted by Kranji ELDDS in June for other schools.

Internal Awards
In recognition of the achievements of individual ELDDS members, we also have an internal award system
1. ELDDS Outstanding Leadership Award -
is awarded to graduating students who have showed leadership qualities and has helped lead the club members for 4 years.
2. ELDDS Outstanding Contribution Award -
is awarded to graduating students who have shown outstanding contributions to the club and its activities.
3. ELDDS Artistic Development Award -
is awarded to Secondary 2 to Secondary 4 students who have shown a marked development in
his/her artistic skills and abilities.

History
We are the
Drama group from
Kranji Secondary School,
K Productions Drama Team (KPDT). We started off as
Kranji’s
English Literary Drama and Debate Society (ELDDS) in 2002 but merged with the school’s
AVA/PA Club in
2008 to form
K Productions. Now, we are known as K Productions Drama Team while the AVA/PA Club is known as K
Productions Technical Team. We have over 50 members from Secondary One to Four and we are trained every week by a
professional trainer,
Mr Fita Helmi and our very own school teacher,
Ms Geraldine Tang, who is a Speech and
Drama teacher.
Aims & Objectives
Our aim is to provide our members with an all-rounded education in theatre skills.
K Productions Drama Team provides a holistic approach to Drama education. Not only do we train the students
on
acting, we ensure that our members are exposed to
all aspects of theatre, including
script writing and
even
production management. Our club members also learn about
lighting and sound, essential elements
needed for a possible and successful performance. Students are also taught to
direct their own plays.
For example, during our recent October double-bill, the play Over The Wall was directed by our very own
K Productions Drama Team member who was
guided by our trainer. Our students are strongly
encouraged to
create their own play which allows them to
stretch their creativity and leadership to the maximum and most
importantly,
work as a team. Through excursions and annual camps, we expose our students to different
components of drama. Our CCA also hopes to create an opportunity for our pupils to relax and engage one
another in a
creative English speaking environment. We are always on the look out for students
passionate
about the Arts.
